Key Points

Creating and implementing internal and external communication strategies· Drafting press invitation and press releases and maintaining communication with news media and journalists. Organizing social media campaigns on various environmental issues.

Detailed Job Descriptions
:

• Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on the organisation's target audience.

• Make and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other material that visualizes/reflects the organization's activities, products, and/or services.

• Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.

• Establish and maintain effective relationships with media houses and journalists, and maintain a media database.

• Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the organisation, and coordinate publicity events as required.

• Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.

• Develop, lead, and oversee the implementation of the organisation's Advocacy strategy.

• Lead advocacy efforts on identified advocacy priorities, representing the organisation to the Bangladesh Government, including other stakeholders.

Maintain effective partnership with different Ministries and Departments of GOB, including MoE, MoWCA, MoHFW, MoSW, NCTB, TTC, DSHE, DSS, etc. especially for the purpose of knowledge management, Central Communication, Advocacy, Technology and Social Innovation.

•
Support in implementing project capitalization strategies, organizing events, and collecting quantitative and qualitative data of interventions.

•
Support in preparing reports and project proposals as per BPI's requirement.

•
Monitor and collect impact stories from the field to produce case studies as per requirement.

Educational Requirements

• A master's degree in communications, Journalism, Social Science, English or a related field
• Educational qualifications may be relaxed, for highly qualified, experienced candidates.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years in the relevant field
• The applicants should have experience of working in the development/ NGO field.

Additional Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in communications, research and development.

•
Excellent writing, speaking, and listening skills in both English and Bengali.

•
Existing relationship with media industry.

•
Proficient in using Bijoy Bangla, Unicode and Avro.

•
Desktop publication, including internet platforms (update website).

•
Ability to proactively learn (coachability), observe, and adapt with the project objectives.

•
Strong leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communications, decision-making, and time management skills.

•
Equally at ease with both field and desk work with problem-solving skills.

•
Focus on attention to details, task prioritising and multitasking ability.

•
Can work independently and in teams as and when required.

•
Demonstrate ability to work as a team player with good work ethics and a cooperative mindset.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Adobe Photoshop);

Excellent aesthetic sense, proficiency in graphic designing tools (i.e., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), and photography skills are desirable.

Required to travel, mostly domestically, possibly internationally.

At present Waterkeepers Bangladesh is conducting operation in Bangladesh to protect its rivers through Buriganga Riverkeeper, Surma River Waterkeeper, Khowai River Waterkeeper, Pashur River Waterkeeper and Voice of the Old Brahmaputra River, a Waterkeepers Bangladesh Affiliate.
