We're building advanced Shopify apps and growing fast. Our merchant base is scaling and we now need a
senior backend architect
who can design systems that work for
thousands of stores
, not just a few.


What You'll Own (Core)

  • Design and optimize
    relational databases
    (PostgreSQL) for a
    multi-tenant
    Shopify app
  • Build and maintain
    job queues and background processing
    (e.g. BullMQ, queues for webhooks, scheduled tasks)
  • Architect
    scalable, modular backend systems
    in
  • Architect secure, multi-tenant SaaS systems (auth, billing, roles)
  • Design secure
    SaaS fundamentals
    : ( authentication & authorization, multi-tenant patterns, roles/permissions, billing logic
  • Integrate deeply with
    Shopify APIs and webhooks
    : (install/uninstall flows, offline tokens, rate limits & retries)


What We're Looking For (Must-Haves)

  • 5+ years of backend or backend-heavy full-stack experience
  • Strong in

    and an ORM (Prisma or similar)
  • Strong understanding of: (relational DB design, PostgreSQL, indexes, migrations, query optimization, background jobs / queues)
  • Experience with
    SaaS architecture
    (multi-tenant, not just simple CRUD apps)
  • Has worked on a
    production app
    that serves a large number of users or customers
  • Comfortable reading and working with
    Shopify API docs
    (Admin API, webhooks, OAuth)

Nice-to-Haves (Bonus Skills)

  • Experience with
    Shopify apps
    in production
  • Experience with
    server infrastructure

  • CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Bitbucket Pipelines)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, , Digital Ocean, etc.)
  • Experience with
    logging & monitoring
    (Sentry, Datadog, etc.)
  • Has mentored other developers or led a small engineering team
