Backend DevOps Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team. This role requires strong DevOps and infrastructure automation skills. You will be responsible for optimizing CI/CD pipelines, maintaining cloud infrastructure, and ensuring reliability, observability, and performance across our systems.

The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and understands how to build production-grade backend systems while enabling seamless developer workflows and deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.

• Set up and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).

• Use Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible.

• Implement containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS).

• Monitor system health using Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, Datadog, or similar tools.

• Ensure system uptime, autoscaling, logging, alerting, and disaster recovery.

Security & Compliance

• Implement DevSecOps best practices, including secrets management and automated security scanning.

• Apply secure coding guidelines and vulnerability mitigation techniques.

• Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards (ISO, SOC2, GDPR, etc., if applicable).

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver stable, production-ready solutions.

• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.

• Maintain technical documentation for infrastructure, services, and workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent experience.

• 3–7+ years of experience in Backend Engineering and/or DevOps roles.

• Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, or GCP/Azure).

• Strong understanding of networking, APIs, microservices, REST/GQL, and event-driven architecture.

• Experience building CI/CD with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar.

• Experience with monitoring, observability, and distributed system debugging.

• Proficiency in relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.).

• Strong problem solving, debugging, and performance optimization skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in high-availability or telecom-grade infrastructure.

• Knowledge of message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or MQTT.

• Experience with serverless (Lambda, Cloud Functions) and event-driven workflows.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks.

• Knowledge of microservices security, API gateways, service mesh (Istio, Linkerd).

• Experience with SRE practices (error budgets, SLIs/SLOs).

• Familiarity with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux).

• Experience in networking, such as VLAN, Multus, Calico or Flannel

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

• Ability to work autonomously while coordinating with distributed teams.

• Ownership mindset with attention to quality and performance.

• Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments.
