Unit Head, Wholesale Islamic Banking Unit

This role leads a unit consisting of Relationship Managers and Associates assigned by Cluster Head–Corporate, Head of Corporate Banking and Institutional Banking and Head of wholesale Banking for conducting Islamic banking business only. This role is primarily responsible for rollout of Islamic business plan and achieve Islamic business target of the assigned unit. This position also ensures maintaining existing asset portfolio of his/her assigned unit with proper Shariah Compliance, creating new business opportunity for the bank to meet planned business targets, and regular monitoring and follow up of the portfolio under the assigned unit.

Managerial Responsibilities

• Responsible for origination, monitoring, and execution of Islamic banking businesses, ensuring full Shari'ah compliance.
• Assist Cluster Head –Corporate / Head of Corporate Banking in formulation of budget and prepare strategy for achieving annual budgeted business target of the unit.
• Assist Senior Management of the Bank for reviewing and changing policy as and when necessary, to suit evolving business conditions.
• Assign budgeted business target to the Relationship Managers.
• Lead, direct and guide Relationship Mangers and Associate Relationship Managers under the unit to achieve the set goals aligned with larger goals of the institution.
• Coach and mentor Relationship Managers and Associate Relationship Managers with proper directions and strategic guidance for creating highly engaged workforce.
• Ensure internal guidelines and procedures are strictly followed in order to protect bank's interest, avoid losses due to documentation problems and criticism by internal and external auditors.
• Perform all other jobs as assigned by Management

Functional Responsibilities

• Revenue Generation:
  Identify the appropriate target market in order create new business opportunity. Set and define appropriate target for the Relationship Mangers to meet the desired business results. Meet and negotiate with customers in order to book quality assets in the portfolio.
• Existing portfolio Management:
  Review the existing portfolio to maintain/enhance the asset quality and control the associated risk, whilst exploring opportunities to maximize revenues. Analyze and manage business risks associated with the portfolio and Improve portfolio profitability by expansion of fee based income. Cross-selling the full spectrum of product set of City Bank PLC in effective collaboration with other business departments of the Bank.
• Customer Relationship Management:
  Develop strong working relations with all existing as well as potential clients to ensure strong customer satisfaction and make City Bank PLC as their bank of first choice. Proactively visit critical customers to gain their trust and comfort. Act as a Financial Advisor of the customer in order to contribute in the growth of his/her business. Advise clients on markets transactions including Investment/Finance syndications, high grade related to wholesale banking.
• Team Management:
  Lead a team responsible for day-to-day operational needs of corporate customers, follow-up with delinquent accounts, analyzing credit needs, preparing credit proposals. Identify high potentials in the division and invests on their development plan. Prepare yearly training and development plan for the whole team. Manage performance of the Team Members and arrange for reward and recognition for high performing Members.
• Communication:
  Initiate regular formal and informal communication with Team members as well as with peer groups in order to ensure healthy working environment. Hold regular meetings with team members so that new ideas are being shared and issues could be resolved through brainstorming.
