What You'll Do

Concept Evolution & Trend Analysis

  • Develop compelling collection concepts, mood boards, and trend boards.
  • Attend international fashion, art, and design fairs/markets to source the latest fabrics, silhouettes, and techniques.
  • Conduct trend research (online, in-store surveys, runways, fashion weeks, trade publications) across fabrics, colors, and shapes.
  • Define and segment target markets by age, gender, socioeconomic status, and geography.
  • Train retail staff on product features and present new collections effectively.

Design Development

  • Produce hand sketches and digital renderings with detailed specifications (construction techniques, color palettes, materials, trims, measurements).
  • Create and maintain tech packs for manufacturers, including embroidery and accessory details.

Sampling & Range Development

  • Plan and develop seasonal ranges; coordinate with Pattern Masters on pattern drafting and cutting.
  • Oversee sample construction, material selection, and production‑friendly techniques.
  • Liaise with vendors through every sampling stage; source competing-market samples for inspiration.
  • Fit samples on live models; curate for product‑review meetings.
  • Lead and mentor the sampling team to ensure a seamless design-to-production workflow.
  • Revise production samples to address factory challenges.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Operations

  • Host virtual conferences with global buyers and brand offices and remote teams as required.
  • Collaborate directly with buyers and in‑house designers to meet their development briefs.
  • Source fabrics at fairs and shopping trips; coordinate fabric and trimmings procurement with the Fabric Manager.
  • Establish clear work and communication systems within the design and sampling teams.
  • Visit factories to supervise sample fittings, approve final samples, and ensure quality standards.

Quality Assurance & Final Approval

  • Monitor every development stage; provide detailed feedback on samples and patterns.
  • Grant final sample approvals to ensure optimal fit, finish, and client satisfaction.

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Fashion & Apparel Design (minimum).
