Position Title: Production Manager

Department: Production – Aluminium Melting, Extrusion & Surface Finishing

Job Purpose:

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all manufacturing operations

in the aluminium melting, extrusion and surface finishing units (melting, extrusion, anodising, powder coating,

packing). The role ensures achievement of production targets, maximum recovery, consistent quality, cost

efficiency, and timely deliveries while maintaining high standards of safety and discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control


• Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.


• Coordinate billet casting, die preparation, extrusion, anodising, powder coating, and packing

activities.


• Ensure optimum utilisation of machines, manpower, and materials.


• Monitor production KPIs (output, recovery %, wastage, downtime).

Process & Quality Management


• Oversee extrusion press operations (die setting, correction, nitriding, extrusion cycle).


• Supervise Die Correction: Ensure proper inspection, grinding, polishing, and modification of

extrusion dies to meet product specifications.


• Supervise Nitriding Process: Ensure timely nitriding of dies to enhance their hardness and

lifespan, maintaining the quality of the extrusion process.


• Monitor anodising & powder coating parameters to ensure finishing quality.


• Implement quality control standards to minimise rejections and customer complaints.


• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and TPM practices.

Resource Management


• Manage manpower allocation across shifts for optimum productivity.


• Ensure timely availability of dies, billets, chemicals, and consumables.


• Coordinate with Maintenance for preventive and breakdown repairs of presses, furnaces, ovens,

and finishing plants.

Cost & Efficiency


• Monitor recovery percentage, fuel/energy usage, and chemical consumption.


• Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.


• Reduce downtime and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Compliance & Safety


• Enforce safety standards and ensure zero-accident operations.


• Ensure compliance with ISO, environmental, and statutory requirements.


• Maintain a disciplined and productive work environment.

Reporting & Communication


• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.


• Coordinate with Warehouse, Sales, and Dispatch for on-time order delivery.


• Provide management with updates on productivity, challenges, and corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience


• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Industrial Engineering.


• Minimum 8–12 years' experience in aluminium extrusion/metal manufacturing industry.


• At least 3–5 years in a production management/supervisory role.


• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems preferred.
