Job Title: Programme Policy Officer - Team LeaderThis is an exciting opportunity to work on the review and update of the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) of Bangladesh. The position requires a highly skilled professional with in-depth knowledge of the Disaster Risk Management Framework and the SOD 2019 in Bangladesh.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide project management support to defined programmes of considerable size and complexity, ensuring coordination with wider programmes in line with WFP standards and procedures.
  • Develop and coordinate data collection and monitoring systems, maintaining rigorous quality standards, and review relevant national/international frameworks like the Sendai Framework and SOD.
  • Prepare and submit a comprehensive work plan to Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), based on document review and stakeholder consultations, integrating gender and inclusivity, and outlining the review approach and timeline.
  • In parallel, coordinate the preparation of a detailed technical workflow outlining WFP's step-by-step support activities for the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) revision, while researching relevant policy and operational issues.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to ensure smooth collaboration, track progress, and identify potential risks to effective project delivery.
  • Provide technical support for the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) revision process, including facilitation and coaching of Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR) committees and stakeholders through workshops, guidance, and feedback.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of various projects and processes, ensuring alignment with broader programme objectives and operational frameworks.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Advanced University Degree (Master's or equivalent) required. Education in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Political Science, Development Studies, Social Science, or any other relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with 4 years of mandatory professional (Managerial/Supervisory) experience in Disaster/Crisis Management, Climate Change Adaptation, Resilience Programmes or in any other relevant field.
  • Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.
