Senior Research Assistant

Job Context

Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong research and analytics skills to join its
Group Research & Development (GR&D) Department
. The role requires expertise in
banking and marketing research
, with
exposure to equity research
considered an added advantage. The ideal candidate will contribute to building
advanced business analytics platforms
, supporting
data-driven decision-making
, and providing insights for
strategic management
.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain
    a business analytics platform capable of
    descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
    to support strategic decision-making across R&D and SBUs.
  • Collect, organize, and manage
    large sets of quantitative and qualitative data
    from multiple online and offline sources.
  • Create, administer, and maintain
    secure databases
    for organizational use.
  • Disseminate
    complex datasets and reports
    within and outside the department as required.
  • Conduct
    statistical analysis
    using both historical datasets and primary survey-based data.
  • Build and maintain a
    dynamic reporting infrastructure
    to support management decisions.
  • Provide analytical insights for
    cross-selling opportunities, customer portfolio optimization, credit risk and delinquency control, and cost reduction
    .
  • Support management in
    business financing and risk forecasting
    .
  • Contribute to
    intellectual publications
    of the Bank.
  • Carry out other
    research studies
    aligned with the core objectives of the GR&D.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor/Honors
  • Masters
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Banking and Finance, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Business Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field from a UGC-approved university.
  • Certification in Market Research, Data Analytics, Big Data, Database Management, or Statistical Modelling preferred.
  • Equity Research certification/accreditation will be an added advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in banking research, marketing research, or business analytics.
  • Experience in equity research will be considered a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, Stata, R, Python), data visualization software (Power BI, Tableau), and database management software (Oracle, SQL, MySQL).
  • Strong ability to prepare professional presentation decks.
  • Familiarity with banking products & services development, customer analytics, and financial modeling.
