Job Description

This position is responsible for managing the tax matters of Daraz Group, a subsidiary of Alibaba International.

Major Responsibilities:

• Be insightful and forward-looking. Able to identify and understand the tax issue, recommend and implement best practices, including advising, implementing continuous improvement to existing processes to ensure tax compliance and practicality.
• Good understanding of business and able to provide practical and effective suggestions/ solutions for business initiatives/projects based on different business scenarios and models
• Strong technical knowledge on international transactions, tax laws & regulations, including interpretation of double tax agreements. Able to identify the relevant tax issues, risks, and implement appropriate tax policies and controls to ensure compliance with respective tax laws and regulations.
• Managing monthly/quarterly tax calculation (including transfer pricing, etc.), monthly/quarterly tax reporting for statutory purposes, and annual income tax compliance to ensure that tax returns are filed in accordance with the tax laws and filed within the statutory timeline.
• Manage and support the M&A project.
• Build and maintain a trusting and collaborative relationship with the governing agency (including tax authority) and external and internal stakeholders, including tax agent/advisor, finance and other relevant departments.
• Manage and lead other ad hoc tax-related initiatives and projects assigned.

Requirements:

• ACCA (Qualified)/CA(Finalist)/Bachelor's degree and/or professional qualification in Taxation, Accounting, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 – 8 years of accounting or tax experience in finance and taxation with a strong knowledge of domestic tax laws and regulations.
• Willingness to learn and deepen expertise in transfer pricing, corporate income tax, VAT/GST regimes, domestic and international withholding tax, tax compliance, and tax audits.
• Strong analytical skills with solid knowledge and experience in accounting/taxation.
• Self-starter, detail-oriented, resourceful, able to work independently, multitask, and manage tight deadlines.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to propose practical solutions to tax issues after consulting with internal stakeholders and advisors.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and manage external advisors.
• Pro-active, hands-on, enthusiastic and not afraid to ask questions and challenge the status quo.
• Working experience in both Big Four accounting form and Commercial (in managerial role) are preferred.
