Job Description / Responsibility

Job Context

Nasir Group of Industries requires an experienced
Chief Engineer (Civil)
to lead engineering, construction, and maintenance activities for factories, warehouses, and associated infrastructure primarily located in
Dhaka, Gazipur, Tangail, Mymensingh, and Kushtia
. The role demands strong technical expertise in
factory building construction, structural steel works, MEP coordination, and site management
for projects executed both in Bangladesh and abroad.

The selected candidate will be
based at the Head Office in Dhaka
, but
must regularly visit project sites
—or attend
whenever instructed by the management
—to ensure proper supervision, progress monitoring, and compliance with technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural engineering design review, construction planning and implementation for factory buildings, expansion projects and allied facilities.
• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams consisting Civil, Structural, Mechanical & Electrical engineers to ensure all project activities are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide expert technical oversight on Steel Structure design, erection, connections, corrosion protection and QA/QC practices.
• Evaluate contractor performance, verify billing, review change orders, and resolve disputes or technical conflicts.
• Lead value engineering initiatives to improve design efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and operational functionality
• Manage and supervise EPC contractors, civil subcontractors, steel fabricators and site teams; ensure work is carried out per approved drawings, specifications and safety standards.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, internal departments & and statutory authorities to ensure seamless project execution and effective problem-solving.
• Prepare and review BOQs, scope of work, technical specifications, project schedules, and progress reports.
• Ensure implementation of HSE standards on site, lead risk assessments and enforce construction safety protocols.
• Control project costs, recommend value engineering measures and ensure timely completion of projects within budget.
• Conduct periodic inspections, commissioning support, and establish preventive maintenance procedures for factory structures and civil assets.
• Mentor and develop in-house engineering team; contribute to procurement decisions for civil & structural materials.
• Liaise with senior management on project status, critical issues and remedial actions.
• Report directly to top management and provide updates on project status, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Civil Engineering
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university shall be considered an advantage.
• Professional training / certification in Steel Structures, Structural Design, Construction Management or related areas is preferred.

Experience Requirements

• At least 15 year(s)

Additional Requirements

• Minimum 15 years' experience in civil & structural engineering with demonstrated experience in industrial/factory construction projects.
• At least 7–10 years in a leadership role handling factory buildings, steel structures, and multi-disciplinary project execution.
• Prior experience of executing projects in Bangladesh and/or abroad, familiarity with local construction regulations, and managing international contractors is an advantage.
• Strong technical knowledge of steel structures (design, fabrication, erection), reinforced concrete, foundations, and construction methods for industrial buildings.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS, Tekla or similar) and working knowledge of construction drawings and detailing.
• Solid experience in quality control, NDT practices, weld inspection and structural safety assessment.
• Excellent project management skills, cost control, contract management, and vendor negotiation abilities.
• Good communication skills in English and Bengali; ability to prepare technical reports, specifications and present to senior management.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites and occasional overseas visits.
