We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer Lead to join the growing team of our portfolio company Amal Labs and help bridge product vision with technical implementation in AI-powered educational technology.

Role Overview

As a Senior AI Engineer at Amal Labs, you will lead our technical AI team, bridging product vision and implementation. You will manage our AI/ML engineering team, ensuring technical excellence while maintaining alignment with our product goals. This role requires both deep technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities to drive our AI initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the AI/ML engineering team, including task assignment, deadline management, and code quality oversight
  • Work closely with Product Leadership to translate product vision into technical implementation plans
  • Coordinate between agile, short-term projects and complex, longer-term research initiatives
  • Establish technical standards and best practices for AI development
  • Research with the Product Manager to identify new opportunities within existing verticals or potential new horizontals
  • Oversee the implementation of domain-specific expertise models across the team
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing between team members to prevent information silos
  • Design flexible sprint structures that accommodate both short-term deliverables and long-term objectives
  • Implement MLOps practices to support efficient development and reduce technical debt
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML and evaluate their potential application to our products

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating successful AI project delivery and team management
  • Experience bridging product requirements with technical implementation in AI-driven platforms
  • Proficiency in modern ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), cloud platforms, and MLOps tools
  • Proficiency in modern LLM frameworks (Langchain, Langraph, Pydantic) and LLMOps tools (Langsmith)
  • Proven ability to balance technical excellence with practical business goals
  • Experience managing teams with diverse working styles (agile/deep focus)
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and mission-driven environment
