We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven individual to join us as the
Deputy Manager, Microfinance Accounts
. In this role, you will oversee and strengthen the accounting and financial reporting functions of BRAC's microfinance operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant recording of all transactions in line with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. You will monitor daily accounting activities, manage reconciliations, and support the preparation of reliable financial reports. Working closely with field offices, enterprise teams, and internal and external auditors, you will provide technical guidance, ensure adherence to financial controls, and support audit and compliance processes. Through maintaining robust accounting systems and strengthening reporting practices, you will play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency, financial transparency, and informed decision-making across BRAC's microfinance portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, consolidate, and review monthly and project-wise accounts for BRAC's Microfinance segment, ensuring adherence to accounting policies, donor requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Post and reconcile month-end and year-end journal entries, investigating and resolving discrepancies between branch-level records and head office accounts.
  • Generate monthly management reports with detailed variance analysis, highlighting significant differences and providing clear explanations to management.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and donor requirements, supporting internal and external audits through documentation, schedules, and timely query resolution.
  • Coordinate with microfinance operations, MIS, and field finance teams to maintain accurate data flow and ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Support ERP/MIS improvements, automation initiatives, and process enhancements within microfinance accounting.
  • Analyze financial data to identify areas requiring corrective action, providing actionable recommendations to improve processes, reporting, and overall financial control.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with programs, auditors, and departmental teams to clarify variances, support audits, and ensure smooth financial operations and reporting.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and microfinance operations, including journal entries, consolidated accounts, and variance analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and donor guidelines relevant to microfinance, including MRA regulations.
  • Awareness of internal control frameworks, reconciliation processes, audit procedures, and ERP/MIS systems for accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries, reconciling branch-level and head office data, and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
  • Advanced skills in ERP/MIS systems, MS Excel, and other tools for financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement abilities to enhance reporting accuracy, workflow efficiency, and financial controls.
  • Effective communication, coordination, and collaboration skills to liaise with auditors, field finance teams, programs, and departmental units.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines, and a proactive approach to system enhancements, automation initiatives, and cross-team collaboration.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, or other relevant disciplines from any recognized university.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Audit, Compliance, Accounting, Finance, or Laws and Regulations, including hands-on experience in financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and audit processes.
