Job Overview
The Technical Specialist II, Textile Exchange conducts on-site and remote audits for clients and conducts technical reviews of submitted reports from other auditors. Work performed is to accredited Textile Exchange Standards including GRS (recycled content), RCS (recycled content), CCS (management systems), and secondary scope for OCS Standards (organic content after the farm). For auditing, responsibilities include audit planning, arranging travel, submitting timely audit reports, and responding to technical reviews in a timely manner. Technical reviews involve reviewing findings in submitted audit reports for clarity and correctness.

Additional tasks may include support on program quality documents and participation in internal and accreditation audits. This position may be asked to support other audit schemes including SCS Recycled Content and Zero Waste, as needed.

The overarching goal in this position is to successfully deliver certification services to SCS clients to allow them to leverage their certified products in the market, confirm both voluntary and regulatory requirements, and meet brand/retailer environmental and sustainability performance criteria.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Project Management

• Conduct both on-site and desk audits as assigned according to the standard, verification, and program requirements following ISO 9001 auditing guidelines
• Perform required data checks for inventory data and data management systems
• Participate in the development of risk assessment and verification plan
• Complete audits by adhering to the agreed timeline, reporting deliverables, and professional requirements
• Lead the documentation, communication, and closure of audit findings
• Communicate in a timely and professional manner with internal staff and external clients
• Collaborate with international affiliates to complete audits, as needed
• Coordinate and assist in both onsite (if required) and desk audits for both domestic and international clients, as assigned
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of the standards relevant to certification programs
• Support the documentation, communication, and closure of audit findings
• Update program tracker with all information and milestones for assigned projects

Auditing and Technical Expertise

• Complete clear technical audit reports with increasing complexity (expansive scope, complex industry, standard), including applicable calculations, interpretation of testing results, and research
• Write clear and technically accurate audit reports following program requirements
• Perform technical reviews of auditor reports, requesting edits from auditors on submissions, as appropriate
• Provide certificate decision to technical managers upon completion of review

Quality and Program Development

• Deliver verification services in accordance with SCS Corporate and Program Quality requirements, in addition to participation in periodic internal and external accreditation audits
• Manage the SCS quality management system through maintenance of competency records including training log, completed calibration activities, and up to date knowledge of SCS program and external scheme requirements
• Support program staff in developing and testing any new program templates and procedures, as needed
• Support sales staff on sales calls, providing technical information to potential clients, as needed

Program Support

• Provide program support in the preparation of work orders, cloud folder structures, invoices, and certificate packages using email templates
• Coordinate with technical staff to ensure timely delivery of audit reports that meet global clients' and program needs
• Support the maintenance and implementation of program quality system by organizing and maintaining client files and documents, program procedures, protocols, and forms, and progress tracking to maintain compliance with SCS quality management systems and/or the rules of the relevant certification scheme

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in quantitative sciences (e.g. Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry) or related field and
• 3+ years of professional and technical experience in manufacturing facilities within the consumer electronics industry, metals industry, plastics recycling, textile/apparel industry, building materials, or other relevant industry sector or auditing experience
• Professional experience or working knowledge of manufacturing processes, third-party certification, or supply chain management
• Excellent technical writing, observation, and data management skills
• Strong communication abilities and demonstrated abilities in critical analysis
• Fluency in English with experience that includes professional and technical verbal and written communication with clients
• Strong organization skills with proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Thrives in a deadline-driven environment by completing complex tasks and deliverables on-time
• Highly detail oriented with the ability to interpret standard requirements
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Initiative and ability to work independently; responsive and adaptive to a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual or Multilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, German, French, Dutch
• Lead Auditor in ISO 14001 or 9001

Working Remotely
