Job Description / Responsibility

Job Purpose

The Design & Technical Solution / Project Development Engineer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and supporting the design and technical aspects of solar PV projects. The role ensures accurate system designs, technical proposals, and feasibility assessments to support project development and execution.

Roles and Responsibilities

System Design & Technical Support

• Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for solar PV systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, hybrid).
• Conduct site surveys and analyze site constraints to inform design decisions.
• Assist in preparing single-line diagrams, layouts, and structural designs.

Technical Proposal & Project Development Support

• Support business development teams in preparing technical proposals and feasibility studies.
• Perform energy yield assessments, shading analysis, and simulation studies.
• Contribute to the development of project documentation, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM).

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure designs comply with local regulations and international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, etc.).
• Perform design reviews and provide technical inputs for risk assessments.
• Assist in reviewing vendor submittals and equipment datasheets for compliance.

Project Execution Assistance

• Provide technical support to project implementation teams during installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Review as-built drawings and assist in documentation of design changes.
• Collaborate with procurement and O&M teams to ensure proper technical execution.

Continuous Improvement & Learning

• Stay updated on emerging solar technologies, components, and design practices.
• Assist in developing internal design standards, templates, and best practices.

Deliverables

• Detailed designs, layouts, and system schematics.
• Energy yield simulation and feasibility reports.
• Technical specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement.
• Approved as-built drawings and design documentation.
• Technical inputs for project proposals and tender submissions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Accuracy and completeness of design deliverables.
• Timeliness of design submissions vs. project schedule.
• Number of design revisions due to errors or non-compliance.
• Contribution to energy yield optimization and cost-effective design.
• Compliance with local and international technical standards.
• Support effectiveness in project execution and handover.

Records to Maintain

• CAD drawings, simulation files, and design documents.
• Feasibility studies, energy yield analyses, and technical proposals.
• Equipment datasheets, vendor approvals, and technical submittals.
• Design revisions, change requests, and approval logs.
• As-built drawings and commissioning reports.
• Internal design SOPs, templates, and standards.

Reporting Structure

• Reports To: Design & Technical Solution Manager / Head of Design & Technical Solution
• Weekly: Design progress updates, technical challenges, and site survey findings.
• Per Project: Technical proposal submissions, design review feedback, and documentation approvals.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor in Engineering (BEngg)
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.

Experience Requirements

• 2 to 5 year(s)
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Manufacturing (Light Engineering and Heavy Industry)

Additional Requirements

• Experience: 2–5 years in solar PV system design or renewable energy engineering.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in PV system design tools (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, Revit).
• Knowledge of solar PV system components, grid interconnection, and energy storage, IPP project.
• Understanding of local and international electrical standards and codes.

Soft Skills:

• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to travel to project sites for surveys and commissioning support.
• Enthusiasm for renewable energy technologies and continuous learning.
