Job Description Summary
The primary objective of this assignment is to support Economic Relations Division (ERD) in implementing the National DRFI (Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance) Strategy. This will include helping ERD engage with the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Global Shield, and other climate finance opportunities, preparing a clear roadmap and work plan for accessing different risk funds and implementation of the Disaster Risk Financing Strategy (DRFS) and strengthening coordination with line ministries and development partners to support the development of a joint proposal.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

The incumbent will work in close collaboration with ERD under the supervision of the WFP Integrated Risk Management (IRM) leadership. Specific responsibilities include:

1. Prepare a roadmap and work plan to implement the DRFI Strategy.

2. Provide technical support to link DRFI with national plans and financing systems.

3. Assist WFP and ERD in preparing funding proposals for GCF projects, Global Shield, Loss and Damage Funds, as well as other opportunities.

4. Coordinate with ministries and development partners on climate finance.

5. Organize workshops, meetings, and consultations on subject-specific issues among the stakeholders.

6. Help strengthen ERD's capacity on DRFI and accessing climate finance.

7. Develop policy briefs, notes, and reports detailing the key policy points as well as various risk financing requirements and roadmaps as needed.

8. Perform any other task as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
 
Education: Completion of Advanced University Degree (Master's or equivalent) is required. Education in Environmental Science, Disaster Management, Social Sciences or any other relevant field is preferable.
Experience: At least 7 years of experience, including 4 years of professional experience (Managerial/Supervisory) in relevant field activities or projects that involve Risk Financing Interventions for Resilience Building, Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation. Within these 4 years of professional experience, a minimum of 3 years of experience must be after postgraduation.
Language: Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.
