The World Food Programme (WFP) is the food-assistance branch of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security. WFP works in over 80 countries globally, providing food assistance to people facing the challenges of famine, food scarcity, and displacement. Its efforts focus not only on emergency food aid but also on development assistance that fosters self-sustainability through programs like school feeding, nutritional support, supply chain enhancements and agricultural development. The organization's ultimate goal is to achieve zero hunger, making it a critical partner in global efforts to improve food security and nutrition standards worldwide.
To support this mission, the Volunteer (Programme Support) position in Bangladesh will play a crucial role in providing support to several units during his permanence in both Cox's Bazar and Dhaka where he will be exposed to the work of those units, while learning the operational and technical role that they play in the response to the refugees and local communities.

ACCOUNTABILITES/ RESPONSIBILITES:

Programme

• Support with identification and mapping of climate-based financing opportunities including CAT bonds, Water Bonds, Adaptation Fund, Global Shield, and other relevant opportunities.
• Conduct research on how to apply for climate financing and assist in drafting of relevant project proposals.
• Assist with economic research on food security, nutrition, and other topics as required by the Programme and Research Assessment and Monitoring (RAM teams)

 Resource and Financial Management

• Assist in planning, monitoring, and reporting on Cash-Based Transfers (CBT) and Non-Food Items (NFIs), work with CBT and Finance to ensure cash distribution to beneficiaries are conducted on time.
• Support Resilience unit to ensure timely Mobile Money Transfers (MMT) to beneficiaries and accurate payout disbursement to affected smallholder farmers through cooperative insurance products.

 Partnership & Coordination

• Help compile inputs from programme, M&E, and other teams for donor proposals and concept notes.
• Assist the technical units to organize and participate in Monthly Project Review Meetings, ensuring programme challenges and progress are well documented.
• Support to Strengthen relationships with government officials, NGOs, and local agencies to ensure ground-level coordination and smooth delivery of interventions.
• Support donor and WFP visibility through preparation of advocacy materials, mission facilitation, and field visit organization.

4. Reporting & Administrative Support

• Facilitate timely submission of Weekly OPUs, various monthly Reports and Project Completion Reports (PCR) from cooperating partners.
• Support Resilience unit in reviewing and finalizing programme and financial reports.
• Ensure proper archiving of programme documents.

The units to support will be discussed with the Head of Programme, but the Volunteer (Programme Support) will be exposed to various role as part of his learning and exposure process.
