DBA Service Lead Engineer

Job Description 

  • Oversee daily IT and database operations, ensuring performance optimization, compliance, and alignment with best practices.

  • Plan, design, and manage multiple IT projects while acting as the primary contact between IT, vendors, and end users.

  • Develop database architectures, policies, and procedures in collaboration with application teams and department managers.

  • Lead database migration, upgrades, crisis management, and complex technical issue resolution.

  • Conduct internal audits of systems, manage vendor SLAs/OLAs, evaluate proposals, and support RFP development.

  • Research database products, tools, and technologies and recommend solutions that enhance performance and simplify management.

  • Ensure timely acquisition, deployment, and licensing compliance for all database-related products and equipment.

  • Support IT budgeting, forecasting, and preparation of short-term & long-term technical and business plans.

  • Implement and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including backups and data restoration testing.

  • Manage incident detection, communication, documentation, and resolution in line with organizational guidelines.

Academic Qualification

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering or relevant field from any UGC approved University 

  • Advanced knowledge in Database Administration (ORACLE, MYSQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, PERCONA).

Job Experience Required

  • 5-8 years of experience in the DBA role.

Required Capabilities

  • Database installation, maintenance and performance tuning (Oracle, SQL server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, PERCONA)

  • Sound knowledge on DB backup, restoration, securities, upgradation, migration, patching, etc.

  • Knowledge on database high availability solution (Clustering, replication, data guard etc.)

  • Basic knowledge on Unix, Network and shell scripting will be a plus.

  • Training/certification (OCP) on Database administration will be a plus.

  • Strong communication skill
