About the team
The People and Organisational Development (POD) Department plays a pivotal role in fostering a people-centered, inclusive, and high-performing work environment at WaterAid Bangladesh. It is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining talented individuals while promoting a culture of continuous learning, engagement, and well-being.
The department encompasses three key thematic portfolios, i.e. People and Organisational Development (POD),Safeguarding andGender, Equity and Social Inclusion - which collectively aim to strengthen organisational capability, uphold ethical standards, and ensure equity and respect for all. Through its integrated approach, the department drives strategic people initiatives, nurtures leadership at all levels, and supports the organisation in achieving its mission through empowered, motivated and high performing teams.
About the role
The People and Organisational Development (POD) Specialist will play a key role in designing, and implementing initiatives across core areas of POD, including Talent acquisition, sourcing and management, Learning &Development (L&D), Employee Engagement, Well-being, and Organisational Development.
This position will work closely with the Director, POD to translate strategic people priorities into actionable programmes and solutions, ensuring that WaterAid Bangladesh continues to attract, develop, and retain talented and motivated individuals while fostering a culture of continuous learning, inclusivity and excellence.
In this role, you will:
- Collaboration and Strategy: Partner with the Director-POD to develop people-focused strategies that align with organizational goals. Lead initiatives for people and culture development based on workforce analytics and HR trends.
- Talent Acquisition & Workforce Support: Support workforce planning and role definitions, manage recruitment for critical roles, and enhance recruitment processes with diverse and inclusive practices. Oversee onboarding to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
- Learning and Development: Lead the L&D function by identifying training needs, implementing annual learning plans, and organizing training initiatives. Promote continuous learning and track the effectiveness of development programs.
- Employee Engagement and Culture: Design strategies to enhance employee engagement, foster collaboration, and improve morale through team-building activities and well-being programs. Support a culture of open communication and feedback.
- Organizational Development: Assist with organizational design, change management, and the development of policies and procedures. Implement process improvements and HR systems for better service delivery.
- POD Functions: Ensure compliance with HR policies, safeguard standards, and support the rollout of HR-related policies. Represent the POD department in internal and external forums and handle other duties aligned with the team's objectives.
These responsibilities will be reviewed with the line manager from time to time.
Education: Bachelor's in Business Administration (major in Human Resource Management), Public Administration, Organisational Development or a related discipline. MBA and Advance degree in HR or relevant subject will be preferred.
Experience: Minimum seven (07) years of relevant professional experience with reputed organisations, preferably with International NGOs or corporate organisations with strong exposure to Learning & Development and Organisational Development. Sound knowledge on contemporary HR practice and processes, country labour law, current HR trend, terminologies etc. and demonstrated expertise on their application in professional career.
Desirable skills
- Proven experience in leading organizational learning and development initiatives, including designing capacity-building programs, conducting training needs assessments (TNA), and managing full training cycles.
- Strong background in managing recruitment, onboarding, employee lifecycle, and engagement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to build trust and gain support from others through a deep understanding of people.
- Commitment to upholding organizational values, integrity, and safeguarding standards.
