The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Gender-Based Violence Sub-Sector Coordinator. This role plays a critical part in the organization's efforts to address gender-based violence in humanitarian settings, particularly in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
About the Position:
- This is a challenging opportunity for an individual with strong leadership and coordination skills to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and girls affected by GBV.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the GBV Sub-Sector coordination, which involves working closely with various stakeholders, including UN agencies, NGOs, and government institutions.
- The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all GBV-related activities are well-coordinated, effective, and meet the needs of the affected population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the GBV Sub-Sector strategy, ensuring it aligns with the overall humanitarian response plan.
- Coordinate with GBV partners to identify areas of common interest and develop collaborative initiatives to address GBV-related challenges.
- Provide technical support to GBV programming, focusing on prevention, risk mitigation, and response to GBV incidents.
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and other UN agencies.
- Ensure that GBV activities are integrated into broader humanitarian response plans, including those related to health, protection, and shelter.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience working on GBV issues, with at least 3 years in a humanitarian context.
- Proven track record of successfully coordinating inter-agency efforts, particularly in complex humanitarian settings.
- Strong knowledge of GBV programming principles, including prevention, risk mitigation, and response.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and representation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.
