Job Summary

The Officer/Senior Officer - Industrial Engineering will focus on optimizing sewing processes in the knitting composite production environment. The role involves time and motion studies, line balancing, productivity enhancement, and implementation of lean practices to achieve production targets while minimizing costs and improving quality.

Role Description

• Conduct garment analysis, operation breakdown, and prepare detailed Operation Bulletins (OB) with SAM/SMV calculations for new and existing knit styles.
• Perform time studies, capacity studies, and method improvements to set realistic production targets and reduce bottlenecks in sewing lines.
• Design and implement efficient line layouts, machine arrangements, and workstation setups for sewing floors to minimize throughput time and improve workflow.
• Monitor daily production, line efficiency, operator performance, and non-productive time; prepare and analyze reports on efficiency, loss time, and overall factory performance.
• Balance sewing lines dynamically based on operator skills, absenteeism, WIP, and style changes to maximize utilization of manpower and machinery.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, implement Kaizen, ECRS (Eliminate, Combine, Rearrange, Simplify), and lean techniques to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Train sewing operators on best methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and skill development; conduct operator skill assessments and support recruitment testing.
• Collaborate with production, planning, and merchandising teams during pre-production meetings (PP meetings) to ensure smooth line setting and target achievement.
• Calculate thread consumption, manpower requirements, and other resource needs specific to knit garment sewing operations.
• Monitor quality control in sewing processes, follow up on low-performing operators, and suggest corrective actions to maintain discipline and output standards.
• Prepare weekly/monthly efficiency reports, incentive schemes, and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering from a reputed university.
• 2-5 years of experience in Industrial Engineering within the garment industry, preferably in knit composite factories with a focus on sewing departments (fresh graduates with strong academic background may be considered for Ass Officer/ Officer level).
• Proficiency in GSD (General Sewing Data) or similar time study methods, MS Excel, and basic IE software tools.
• Strong analytical skills, knowledge of lean manufacturing, line balancing, and productivity improvement techniques.
