About the role

We are currently looking for an ''Equipment Specialist'' who has prior experience of design, design review, supervision of fabrication & assembly, commissioning & testing of STS & RTG & other container handling equipment for our Port & Maritime projects in Chattogram, Bangladesh, South Asia where SMEC is providing the consulting services as an Independent Engineer (IE). The Expert will work on-off basis & provide intermittent input remotely with site visit as and when required or, @ six months interval.

Key Responsibilities shall include the following, but not limited to:

• Shall review all Port Equipment Design/drawings/specifications/procurement/testing & commissioning plans/O&M manuals etc. submittals by RSGTB (such as RTG, STS etc.) to check for compliance with international standards and industry practice and the provisions of the Concession Agreement signed between the Clients. May be mentioned, the STS & RTG's are at manufacturing stage.
• Shall review Equipment related portion in the Monthly progress report submitted by client for IE Review
• Shall prepare Quarterly Progress Report to be submitted to client by IE
• Shall attend IE Site visits as & when required/ @ every six month and prepare Site Visit Reports.
• Shall attend the commissioning & testing procedure and accordingly share inputs with the client & confirm if commissioning testing are in line with the approved testing & commissioning plan & the provisions of the Contract between the Port Authority & the Operator.
• Shall attend Project Progress Meetings online (Bi-Weekly or Monthly) and Technical Discussion Meetings as & when required & prepare minutes of meeting
• Any other responsibilities to cover the delivery of the entire scope of IE, relevant to this position as specified in the terms of reference for the remaining duration (21 months from Oct25) of the project.

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• He/she has Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• He/she has Minimum of 15 years of experience in planning and design of container cranes and major yard equipment, specifically RTG & STS.
• He/she has minimum Ten (10) years experience in at least three similar infrastructure projects as Senior Equipment or Mechanical systems specialist.
