Data Science and Machine Learning Mentor

The Role:

As a Data Science and Machine Learning Mentor, you will be instrumental in guiding and inspiring students through an intensive, project-based curriculum. You will leverage your real-world expertise to demystify complex concepts and empower students to build robust, end-to-end data solutions. Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction and workshops based on the established curriculum, covering topics from foundational Python and SQL to advanced Deep Learning and Cloud Computing.
• Guide students through hands-on labs and projects, including mini-projects like e-commerce web scraping, house price prediction, and a final capstone project.
• Provide personalized, one-on-one mentorship to help students overcome challenges, debug code, and solidify their understanding of theoretical concepts.
• Assess student progress through practical assignments, quizzes, and project evaluations.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
• Share industry insights, best practices, and career advice to prepare students for the demands of the job market.

Core Competencies You Will Teach:

You will be mentoring students across a broad and deep curriculum, including but not limited to:

• Programming and Databases:

Core Python, OOP, SQL database design using PostgreSQL.
- Mathematical Foundations:

Statistics, Probability, Linear Algebra, and the fundamentals of Calculus for machine learning.
- Data Analysis and Visualization:

A full data analysis lifecycle using Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and creating interactive dashboards with Plotly or Streamlit.
- Data Mining:

Web scraping with BeautifulSoup and Selenium, and understanding data warehousing concepts.
- Machine Learning:

Building, evaluating, and tuning supervised (Regression, Classification) and unsupervised (Clustering, PCA) models using scikit-learn.
- Deep Learning:

Constructing and training Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), CNNs for image classification, and LSTMs for sequence data using TensorFlow and Keras.
- Specialized Topics:

Natural Language Processing (NLP) with NLTK and HuggingFace, Time Series Analysis with ARIMA and Prophet, and Big Data concepts with Spark and Hadoop.
- Cloud & Deployment:

Fundamentals of cloud computing (AWS/GCP), data storage on S3, and deploying models in a cloud environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven professional experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or in a related role.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and its core data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib).
• Strong command of SQL and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Solid understanding of the theoretical foundations of machine learning, statistics, and linear algebra.
• Demonstrated experience in the complete machine learning pipeline, from data collection and preprocessing to model evaluation and tuning.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a passion for teaching and mentorship.
