Job Overview

As a Lead IoT DevOps Engineer, you will be a hands-on engineer working across the full IoT stack — from hardware prototyping to cloud deployments. You'll design and build IoT solutions, integrate device SDKs with applications, maintain backend services for data collection and analytics, and ensure smooth customer operations through effective troubleshooting and ticket resolution.

Responsibilities

IoT Engineering & Development

  • Prototype IoT hardware with microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32, Arduino) and SBCs (Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano).
  • Work with IoT connectivity modules (BLE, Wi-Fi, GSM/4G/5G, NB-IoT, LoRa) and implement communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, gRPC).
  • Integrate device SDKs with mobile or backend applications for secure onboarding and data exchange.

Backend & Cloud Infrastructure

  • Build backend services and APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL) to ingest and serve IoT telemetry.
  • Manage databases for IoT workloads (MySQL, PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, MongoDB, Redis).
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) and automate deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Ansible.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, ensuring both infrastructure and device data reliability.

Customer Problem Handling & Ticket Resolution

  • Act as an escalation point for IoT device and platform issues, troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, network, and backend layers.
  • Support ticket triaging, debugging, and resolution using tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, or Zendesk.
  • Collaborate with support/NOC teams to ensure SLA compliance and provide clear updates to stakeholders.
  • Document fixes and automate recurring issue resolution to reduce MTTR.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with product, app, and customer support teams to deliver reliable IoT solutions.
  • Share knowledge and mentor colleagues on IoT tools, DevOps practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Stay current with industry trends in IoT, cloud, and DevOps, applying best practices to ongoing projects

Education & Skill

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • IoT prototyping and debugging at hardware and firmware levels.
  • Strong containerization/orchestration knowledge (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
  • Edge computing and OTA firmware update mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of secure IoT practices (device authentication, TLS, OTA signing).
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills for customer interaction.
  • Programming knowledge in Python, Go, or C/C++ for device and backend integration.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or structured incident handling processes is a plus.

Experience

  • 2–4 years of hands-on IoT and DevOps experience.
  • Practical exposure to IoT device prototyping, backend services, and cloud deployments.
  • Experience in customer support/incident management workflows.
