Bangladesh faces significant climate change vulnerability despite contributing only 0.4% of global emissions. The country has updated its NDC with ambitious targets across multiple sectors. While it has a strong climate policy framework, more work is needed to unlock carbon financing. The government has identified priority areas for climate action, with financing needs between 0.8% and 5% of GDP. We support these efforts through various projects focused on renewable energy, carbon markets, and green development.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Climate Finance and Carbon Market Strategist to support our efforts in Bangladesh. As part of this role, you will assist in reviewing our portfolio and pipeline, identifying opportunities for accessing carbon finance, and supporting knowledge sharing events.
Main Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison for multi-Practice Group activities and support organizing knowledge sharing events, round-tables etc.
- Organize meetings and ensure smooth communication with development partners, academia, and other stakeholders in Bangladesh;
- Etc.
About The Programme
This position is part of the Talent programme 'Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group', sponsored by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A Master's degree in economics, finance, environmental studies, science, public planning with a focus on Climate Finance or Climate Change;
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in Climate Change, Climate finance and Carbon markets;
- Ability to digest technical content and reframe language to make it accessible to a broader audience;
- Fluent in English.
