Climate Finance Expert for Sustainable Development

The World Bank Group supports developing countries in their efforts to reduce poverty and improve living standards. As a key partner, the bank works closely with governments to identify priority areas for climate action.
Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to climate change despite contributing only 0.4% of global emissions. The country has set ambitious targets across multiple sectors, including renewable energy and green development.
As a Climate Finance Expert for Sustainable Development, you will support the World Bank Bangladesh team in:
- Engaging with stakeholders on climate finance and carbon markets
- Reviewing the bank's portfolio and pipeline to identify opportunities for accessing carbon finance and earning credits
- Serving as a liaison for multi-disciplinary teams and organizing knowledge-sharing events
- Ensuring smooth communication with development partners, academia, and other stakeholders in Bangladesh
This role is part of the Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group program, which offers an international volunteer contract covering travel, relocation, and health insurance costs. A monthly living allowance is also provided.
To be eligible, you should have a Master's degree in economics, finance, environmental studies, or a related field, with demonstrated interest and/or experience in climate change, climate finance, and carbon markets. Fluency in English is required.
Please note that this position requires Swiss nationality and a maximum age of 28 years old at the time of application. Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture would be highly regarded.
