Role Overview We are looking for Computer Science graduates to join Skarion as a Software Engineer Intern. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on development, diving into systems, building new features, and working in a fast-moving startup environment. In this role, you will take ownership of existing projects, maintain active workflows, diagnose and fix bugs, and implement new functionality across our applications and internal tools. We need someone adaptable who isn’t afraid to navigate unfamiliar codebases, improve system reliability, and handle technical tasks across the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
• Project Ownership: Take over, understand, and maintain existing codebases, projects, and active operational workflows.
• Feature Development: Design, build, and deploy new features and enhancements based on business requirements.
• Bug Fixing & Maintenance: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical glitches across existing applications.
• System Integration: Integrate and maintain third-party services, REST APIs, and webhooks to ensure smooth data flow across platforms.
• Code Quality & Optimization: Refactor existing code where necessary to improve readability, maintainability, and reliability.
• Documentation & Testing: Write clean documentation for systems, workflows, and changes; test updates thoroughly before deployment.
• Startup Agility: Collaborate directly with the team to translate operational and product needs into practical technical solutions. Required Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
• Solid grasp of core programming principles, data structures, algorithms, and web technologies.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language/stack (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Node.js).
• Experience reading, debugging, and navigating existing codebases written by others.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and third-party integrations.
• Working knowledge of Git and version control workflows (branching, PRs, merge conflict resolution).
• Basic understanding of relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and self-discipline to work effectively in a remote environment. Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with modern frontend or full-stack frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js).
• Experience with backend frameworks and building/consuming internal APIs.
• Exposure to deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms or VPS (e.g., Vercel, AWS, Render, Docker).
• Experience working with third-party tools, webhooks, or automation/workflow platforms when integrating backend systems.
• Familiarity with database schema updates, migrations, and basic query optimization.
• Prior experience contributing to open-source projects or maintaining production code in an internship/academic project setting.
