The Programme Associate will support the planning and implementation of emergency preparedness activities, facilitate engagement with MoDMR and other stakeholders, and provide operational and logistical support for earthquake simulation exercises and related capacity-building events.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

1. Support the implementation of WFP's Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) strategy, including the Emergency Preparedness Platform and contingency planning processes.

2. Assist in reviewing and updating contingency plans, emergency SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and risk registers at national and sub-national levels.

3. Contribute to planning and execution of simulation exercises, especially for earthquake preparedness, including scenario translation and stakeholder engagement.

4. Draft reports, briefs, concept notes, meeting minutes, and success stories. document processes and prepare materials for government and partner meetings. Assist in After-Action Reviews and improvement planning.

5. Support workshops and training sessions on emergency preparedness and response coordination, including development of materials and evaluations.

6. Contribute to situation reports, dashboards, and emergency response monitoring tools.

7. Provide field-level coordination and support during emergencies, including assessments and distributions, and participate in simulation follow-up actions.

8. Identify, review and summarise different departments and ministries' policies (e.g., MoDMR: Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, DDM: Department of Disaster Management, LGED: Local Government Engineering Department, BWDB: Bangladesh Water Development Board etc.) operational guidelines, and documents regarding DRR( Disaster Risk Reduction ) activities, including community infrastructure for risk reduction.

9. Identify communication, implementation, and procedural gaps across organizations, including unintended outcomes, ineffective implementation and practices/policy conflicts. Prepare a mapping of the DRR activities, identifying coordination gaps, overlapping tasks, and barriers to planning and implementing the DRR( Disaster Risk Reduction )community asset creation works.

10. Identify key DRR areas for WFP collaboration and effective modalities to support risk reduction and resilience-building.

11. Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
 
Education: Completion of University Degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) is required. Education in Disaster Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or any other relevant field is preferable.
Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in Emergency Preparedness, Disaster Management, Programme Implementation, or Coordination with government agencies. or in any other relevant field.
Language: Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.
