Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of Tax to oversee all tax-related operations for PalmPay Bangladesh. This senior leadership role ensures complete compliance with Bangladesh tax laws, optimizes tax planning structures, leads tax audits, and supports all business units with expert tax guidance. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of professional experience, strong leadership capability, and deep expertise in NBR regulations, VAT, withholding tax, and corporate taxation.

Key Responsibilities1. Company Tax Compliance

  • Lead the preparation and submission of all corporate income tax, VAT, and other mandatory tax filings accurately and within statutory deadlines.

  • Ensure the company maintains full compliance with NBR tax rules and reporting standards.

2. Contract & Transaction Tax Review

  • Review business contracts to ensure all tax implications are assessed and tax risks minimized.

  • Oversee correct calculation and deduction of withholding tax and VAT at source during payments.

3. Regulatory Interaction & Tax Audit Handling

  • Serve as the primary liaison with tax authorities, NBR officials, regulatory bodies, and external auditors.

  • Lead tax audit responses and defend the company's tax positions effectively.

4. Tax Policy Monitoring & Impact Assessment

  • Continuously monitor changes in Bangladesh tax laws, regulations, and circulars.

  • Evaluate the impact of new policies on business operations and make strategic recommendations.

5. Internal Tax Advisory & Training

  • Provide expert tax guidance to leadership, finance teams, and business units.

  • Conduct internal tax training sessions to enhance tax awareness and compliance practices.

6. Stakeholder & Authority Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with NBR departments, tax consultants, and external advisors.

  • Strengthen corporate presence within regulatory and tax consulting networks.

7. Tax Planning for New Business Initiatives

  • Assess tax implications of new business models or product launches.

  • Develop optimized tax structures that support business expansion while ensuring compliance.

Professional Abilities & Skills

  • Strong command of NBR regulations, VAT Act, Withholding Tax guidelines, and corporate tax procedures.

  • Proven leadership experience in managing and guiding a tax department.

  • Ability to resolve complex tax matters and present clear business-oriented tax solutions.

  • Strong communication skills with fluency in English (written and spoken).

  • High integrity, analytical thinking, and decision-making ability.

Industry & Experience Requirements

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in tax management roles.

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or team management experience.

  • Experience in the Big Four accounting firms is highly preferred.

  • Additional experience (3–4 years) in Chinese-funded companies, financial institutions, telecom, fintech, or multinational organizations is a strong advantage.

  • Strong network or working relationships with tax authorities or professional accounting bodies is a plus.

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related discipline from a recognized university.

  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAB, CA, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
