Veterinary Officer

Job Description / Responsibility

Job Context: InsureCow is an agri insurtech company working with dairy farmers across Bangladesh. We support farmers through livestock identification, health monitoring, insurance facilitation, and farm management services. Veterinary Officers play a critical role in ensuring animal health, accurate records, and compliance with insurance and health protocols.

This role is field intensive and requires regular farm visits, coordination with field agents and district hubs, and direct engagement with farmers.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Health & Field Services

• Provide on farm veterinary services including clinical examination, diagnosis, treatment, and minor surgical procedures
• Conduct regular health checkups for cattle enrolled under InsureCow programs
• Carry out vaccination, deworming, and preventive health interventions following approved protocols
• Monitor animal health conditions and identify early signs of disease outbreaks
• Support emergency response for sick or injured animals when required

Insurance & Documentation Support

• Assist in pre insurance health assessment of livestock
• Support insurance claim verification through medical examination, treatment history, and post mortem reporting when applicable
• Ensure proper documentation of animal health records, vaccination logs, and treatment reports
• Maintain accurate digital records using InsureCow's mobile or web based system

Coordination & Operations

• Coordinate with shed managers, field agents, and district hub teams for scheduled visits and service delivery
• Support district level vaccination campaigns and health drives
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and administration of vaccines and medicines, including cold chain compliance
• Report medicine usage and stock requirements to district hubs

Farmer Awareness & Advisory

• Educate farmers on basic animal health management, hygiene, feeding practices, and disease prevention
• Advise farmers on biosecurity measures to reduce disease risks
• Support farmers in understanding insurance coverage related to animal health and mortality

Educational Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
• Registration with Bangladesh Veterinary Council is preferred
• Skills Required: Computer Literacy, Animal Breeding, animal husbandry, Animal Nutrition, Teamwork, Animal Feed, Animal Health, Animal Genetics, Animal Vaccine, Dairy Animal Production Management

Experience Requirements

• 1 to 5 year(s)
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
• Poultry,Fisheries,Farming,Livestock,Animal/Plant Breeding,Dairy,Agro based Startup
• Freshers are also encouraged to apply.

Experience Requirements

• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
• Minimum 1 year of field experience in dairy or large animal practice will be an advantage
• Experience working with smallholder farmers is preferred
• Willingness to work in rural and semi rural areas
• Ability to travel frequently within assigned districts
• Basic smartphone and digital literacy is a must
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with farmers from diverse backgrounds
• Strong sense of responsibility, ethics, and field discipline
