Senior Fabric Technologist / Fabric Technologist (Knit & Woven)

Job Context

The Senior Fabric Technologist / Fabric Technologist holds the accountability for managing all technical issues related with fabrics, utilizing technical knowledge of yarns, fabric manufacturing, dyeing, and finishing to carry out risk assessments along with quality teams, and guiding factories on critical developments and bulk. The incumbent will also be responsible for working closely with the design & innovation department, identifying the latest trends and innovation in fabrics, sourcing and developing fabrics across knit & woven categories.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure use of chemicals in dyeing fabrics are either buyer nominated sources or within ZXY hazardous chemical internal limit and ISO chemical standards.
• Carry out risk assessments during development and pre-production meetings.
• Take the necessary corrective actions and resend for approval in case of customer comments.
• Receive fabric swatch card or original cutting from customers via merchandisers.
• Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation on fabric structure, design analysis and detail knowledge about their backward and forward process like types of yarn, winding, warping, sizing, drawing, denting, weaving, greige fabric inspection, dyeing, finishing, overdye, washing, etc.
• Declare the fabrication, construction, weave, weight, color pattern and repeat size, finish type and finished width of the swatch received from buyer.
• Liaise with lab team and ensure their fabric evaluation is in alignment and update QAM and merchant team.
• Analyze order sheet and provide detailed risk analysis with approval.
• Go ahead with sampling batch, proto size set (fabrication-wise) with approval.
• Follow up quality fabric as per standard, shade band lot wise and ensure approval.
• Monitor the fabric production in factory: yarn in-house, knitting, dyeing and updating to QAM and merchant team.
• Oversee follow up of inventory, yarn in-house, knitting, dyeing of fabric as per TNA to ensure no delays.
• Oversee fabric inspection report and ensure quality fabric/PP match against approved parameters.
• Ensure fabric is in-housed on time to ensure cutting starts as per Planned Cut Date (PCD) and update quality and merchant team.
• Work closely with the Design team to identify the latest trends and innovations in fabrics.
• Research on special chemical finish, yarn, fabric, and dyes for new developments
• Develop new fabrics based on fashion trends and working closely with the fabric mill.
• Conduct random inspection of bulk fabric, undertaking quality evaluations of materials and checking the quality of the final product.
• Visit fabric mills (local or overseas) to source fabrics as per customer specifications.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor/Honors

• At least 6 year(s)

Experience and Educational Requirements

• Graduate in Textile Manufacturing from a well reputed institute.
• At least 6 years' relevant work experience in Buying House/Factory.
• Should have experience in knit & woven category.
• Should have experience in the following categories: Menswear, Womenswear, and Kidswear product safety and process controls.
