Assistant Manager / Senior Officer - Commercial (Import)

Key Points

Ensure timely and accurate import operations through strong coordination with banks, customs, and regulators, ensuring compliance, minimizing risks, and supporting smooth business growth with proper documentation and process control.

Job Description / Responsibility

Import & Commercial Operations

  • Prepare, verify, and process import documents including amendment, shipping documents, and bill lodgment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing & forwarding (C&F) agents to ensure timely shipment and clearance.
  • Monitor import timelines to avoid demurrage, detention, and shipment delays.
  • Well knowledge on duty calculation, fund requisition, follow up with bank & C&F

Banking & Treasury Coordination

  • Liaise with banks for L/C issuance, amendments, payments, and acceptance settlements.
  • Support cash flow planning by aligning import payments with treasury schedules.

Regulatory & Compliance Management

  • Ensure compliance with Bank regulations, customs laws, import policy orders, VAT & duty regulations.
  • Coordinate with customs, port authorities, and other regulatory bodies for smooth clearance.
  • Maintain accurate records for audit, inspection, and regulatory review.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain systematic documentation of import files, L/C records, bank correspondences, and clearance documents.
  • Prepare periodic import status, cost, and variance reports for management review.

Educational Requirements

  • Masters
  • Master's degree in Management, SCM, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline.

Experience Requirements

  • 4 to 7 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Manufacturing (FMCG),IT Enabled Service, Shipping, Food (Packaged)/Beverage, Agro based firms (incl. Agro Processing/Seed/GM),Group of Companies, Packaging Industry, Cement Industry, Cement, Steel

Additional Requirements

  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in import commercial operations, preferably within manufacturing, trading, or large corporate environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with banks, customs, C&F agents, and regulatory authorities.
