EPI Supervisor
Job Description / Responsibility
Responsible for:
- Plan, implement, and monitor the EPI activities at the health center and surrounding areas to ensure effective immunization coverage for all eligible populations.
- Develop and maintain a schedule for immunization sessions, ensuring accessibility for remote communities.
Staff Training and Capacity Building:
- Train and mentor health care staff on EPI protocols, vaccine storage, handling, administration, and documentation.
- Organize regular workshops and refresher courses to enhance the skills of the immunization team.
Community Engagement:
- Promote immunization awareness and education within the community through outreach programmes, health talks, and collaboration with local leaders.
- Address community concerns and misconceptions about vaccines to improve acceptance and participation.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and report immunization data to the Health Coordinator and relevant health authorities.
- Maintain accurate records of vaccinations, stock levels, and coverage rates, ensuring timely reporting as per national guidelines.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular audits of immunization services to ensure compliance with national standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor vaccine cold chain management and ensure that all vaccines are stored and transported under appropriate conditions.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Collaborate with local health authorities, NGOs, and community organizations to enhance immunization services and support.
- Participate in health campaigns and initiatives aimed at improving overall community health.
Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks, coordinating vaccination campaigns as necessary.
- Prepare and implement contingency plans for immunization services during emergencies.
Activities:
- Develop Immunization Schedules: Create a comprehensive immunization schedule that aligns with national guidelines and addresses the needs of the local population.
- Resource Allocation: Identify and allocate necessary resources, including vaccines, equipment, and staff for immunization sessions.
- Conduct Training Sessions: Organize and facilitate training sessions for healthcare staff on immunization best practices, including vaccine administration and cold chain management.
- Community Awareness Campaigns: Plan and execute community outreach activities to raise awareness about the importance of immunization and available vaccines.
- Engage Local Leaders: Collaborate with community leaders and organizations to promote vaccination and address any concerns or misconceptions within the community
. - Maintain Immunization Records: Ensure accurate documentation of vaccinations administered, including patient information, vaccine types, and dosages.
- Data Analysis: Analyze immunization data to assess coverage rates, identify trends, and prepare reports.
- Conduct Quality Audits: Perform regular audits of immunization practices, vaccine storage conditions, and data management processes to ensure compliance with national standards.
- Monitor Cold Chain Management: Oversee the cold chain process, ensuring vaccines are stored and transported at the correct temperatures to maintain efficacy.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for immunization services during outbreaks or natural disasters.
- Liaise with Local Health Officials: Work closely with local health authorities to align immunization strategies with public health goals and initiatives.
- Co-ordinate and co-operate health coordinator and deputy programme manager in maintaining quality immunization services at the health facilities.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Requirements
- DMF from a government-recognized institute with valid BMDC registration or Bachelors in Public Health or a related field. Certification in Immunization would be an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- At least 2 year(s)
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):

Skill and Competencies
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in immunization programmes, public health, or community health, preferably in remote or underserved areas. Knowledge or familiarity with IPC guidelines, protocols, and best practices in refugee settings.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and educate healthcare workers and community members, considering potential language and cultural barriers.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and local languages is preferred for effective communication.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse communities and refugee populations.
- PSEAH and Child Safeguarding Policies: Sound knowledge on PSEAH and child safeguarding policies
