Deputy Manager (VAT & Tax)

Key Points

  • Minimum

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT (Mushak) returns related to pharmaceutical manufacturing, import, sales, and distribution activities within the stipulated timeline.
  • Manage and oversee VAT and Customs–related activities for the import of raw materials, APIs, packaging materials, spares, and machinery used in pharmaceutical production.
  • Prepare income tax returns and ensure proper deduction, deposit, and compliance of TDS, VDS, and AIT applicable to the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, registers, and documentation related to VAT, Tax, Customs, TDS, VDS, and AIT.
  • Prepare and submit required documents to the VAT Commissionerate and Customs authorities to obtain NOC for the release of SRO-benefited raw materials, APIs, spares, and packaging materials.
  • Handle VAT exemption and zero-rated supply documentation, including preparation, submission, processing, and successful acquisition of necessary approvals and NOCs.
  • Efficiently manage all types of VAT and Customs audits, investigations, hearings, and respond to official notices and queries in a professional manner.
  • Maintain effective liaison and coordination with the National Board of Revenue (NBR), VAT Commissionerate, Customs House, and other relevant government authorities.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable VAT, Tax, and Customs laws, rules, and circulars relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and minimize regulatory risks.
  • Demonstrate sound practical knowledge and application of Mushak Forms 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.5, and 9.1.
  • Prepare and submit consolidated monthly reports on VAT and Customs activities to management within the designated time frame.
  • Provide advisory and operational support to senior management on VAT, Tax, and Customs matters.
  • Coordinate and represent the company in VAT, Customs, and Tax-related legal proceedings, appeals, and hearings as required.
  • Stay updated with local and international VAT laws, regulations, and declaration procedures applicable to pharmaceutical operations.
  • Perform any other duties related to VAT, Tax, and Customs as assigned by management from time to time.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting
  • Skills Required: Tax (VAT/ Customs Duty/ Income Tax), VAT and Tax, Tax Return Submission

Experience Requirements

  • 5 to 10 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
  • Pharmaceutical/Medicine Companies,Financial Consultants

Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting / Finance / Business Administration from a recognized university.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing company will be highly preferred.
  • Professional training on VAT & Tax will be an added advantage.
  • Retired Government VAT & Tax Officers are also encouraged to apply.
