IT In-Charge (Retail Super Shop)

Job Summary

The IT In-Charge is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing all information technology systems of the retail super shop. This includes POS systems, billing software, inventory systems, networking, hardware, data security, and user support to ensure smooth daily operations with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

1. System & Infrastructure Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain POS systems, billing software, and retail management systems
  • Manage servers, desktops, laptops, printers, barcode scanners, and other IT equipment
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of all IT services

2. Network & Connectivity

  • Maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity across the store
  • Configure and manage routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Troubleshoot network issues and coordinate with ISPs when required

3. POS & Retail Software Support

  • Ensure proper functioning of POS terminals and billing software
  • Coordinate software updates, patches, and version upgrades
  • Support inventory, pricing, promotions, and discount configurations
  • Troubleshoot transaction, barcode, and receipt issues

4. Data Security & Backup

  • Implement data security policies and access controls
  • Ensure regular data backups (local and/or cloud)
  • Protect systems from viruses, malware, and unauthorized access
  • Maintain confidentiality of sales, customer, and financial data

5. User Support & Training

  • Provide technical support to cashiers, supervisors, and store staff
  • Train employees on POS systems, basic IT usage, and best practices
  • Prepare simple user manuals or quick-help guides

6. Vendor & Asset Management

  • Coordinate with software vendors, hardware suppliers, and service providers
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and licensing records
  • Evaluate new IT solutions to improve store efficiency

7. Reporting & Documentation

  • Generate IT-related reports for management when required
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Assist management in technology planning and upgrades

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor/Honors
  • Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in IT, Computer Science, or related field

Experience Requirements

  • 7 to 10 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):Inventory/Warehouse,Super store,Shopping mall,Food (Packaged)

Required Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of IT support experience (retail or POS environment preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of POS systems, networking, and hardware support

Required Skills

  • POS and retail software management
  • Network troubleshooting (LAN/Wi-Fi/Internet)
  • Hardware maintenance and repair
  • Basic database and server management
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and training abilities

Preferred Skills (Optional)

  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience managing multi-branch retail IT operations

Working Conditions

  • On-site role in retail environment
  • May require extended hours during peak seasons or system upgrades
  • On-call support during critical system issues
